God’s Garden

OUMC started God’s Garden, which is located on the corner of Spring and Military, in the fall of 2010. We began planting garden peas, carrots, potatoes, lettuce and spinach in the early garden with tomatoes, squash, green beans and other summer vegetables to follow in the early spring. All vegetables were donated to Penn Avenue Food Mission.

Impressive and very large harvests, as much as 3000 pounds of vegetables a year, are now regularly donated to ACIM. Cabbage, collards, zucchini and yellow squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, okra, bell peppers, mixed greens, broccoli, green beans, and purple hull peas are part of the plantings. Three plantings are made each year; early spring crops, summer crops, and fall crops.

God’s Garden is always looking for volunteers to help plant, harvest, and maintain the garden. If you are interested please contact the church office at 919-693-4091.
